Anantnag: Three youth have suffered injuries in firing of pellets shotguns by government forces to disperse surging protesters at Gadole Vailoo where an encounter between militants and joint team of police and army started early Friday morning, leading to the killing of an unidentified militant, believed to be foreigner, and bullet injuries in head to a 15-year-old boy.
Officials at District Hospital Anantnag told INS that three youth with pellet injuries have been received at the hospital and are being treated.
Earlier an unidentified militant was killed and 15-year-old teen was injured during the which ensued after police’s SOG and army laid a siege at Gadole Vailoo during midnight following inputs about the presence of some militants.
A police officer said that the encounter ensued after joint team of forces retaliated to the firing by militants hiding in the area.
Reports said that a foreign militant was killed in the encounter so far.
Amid gunfight, a teenager, Yawar Ahmad Chopan suffered bullet injury on his head and was removed to district hospital Anantnag. A doctor at the hospital said that conditional of the 15-year-old was “stable”.
Meanwhile, hundreds of youth took to streets in Vailoo and tried to march towards the encounter site, reports said. The protesting youth pelt stones at forces and later fired teargas canisters and pellets to disperse them. When this report was filed, dingdong battles between two sides were going on.
Meanwhile, in wake of the encounter, the authorities as part of the usual practice have stopped internet services in the district.
