The residents of Jadeed Bhagat colony of Sopore on Monday protested against acute water shortage criticizing the public health engineering department for failing to restore a water supply in the area since past one week.

“There is no portable water from past one week but the authorities concerned are clueless to address the issue,” said a protesting woman.

“We will stage protest at main Chowk Sopore if water supply is not restored in time,” they said.

They appealed district authorities to look into the matter.

“The PHE officials accused us of using extra water and of non judicious use but since one week there is no water supply,” they claimed accusing the officials of lackadaisical approach towards to official duties.
