Srinagar: A man with critical injuries after he along with another person were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Wednesday, succumbed at SMHS hospital here.

Reports said that yesterday morning unknown gunmen abducted two persons namely Mehraj ud Din Dar son of Ghulam Mohd Dar of Hawoora, Mishipora and Mohd Arif Sofi son of Fayaz Ahmad Sofi of Khudwani from their native villages.

The gunmen after torturing released both the persons, they said, adding that Arif Sofi suffered multiple injuries during the torture and was taken to a nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS in critical conditions.

After battling for life for several hours, Arif succumbed to injuries.

A police officer also confirmed the death of the youth.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered to nab the persons involved in the killing,” the officer said.
