Srinagar: The state of Jammu and kashmir has moved an application before Supreme court seeking adjournment of the hearing in a string of writ petitions challenging the vires of Article 35A of the Constitution of India.

Sources confirmed that state on Friday moved an application in this regard seeking adjournment.

“Yes the application for the adjournment has been moved,” a senior official in state law department confirmed.

The Petition has been listed to be heard by the SC on Aug 6, for final disposal.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir is on boil amid apprehensions that the law may be struck down.

Article 35A, the Jammu and Kashmir State Subject Law which defines permanent residents of the state and prevents non-locals from buying or owning property in the state, has been challenged by an NGO, ‘We the Citizens’, and other groups in the Supreme Court.
