Srinagar: Gunfight between militants and government forces is underway at Batpora area of Handwara in district Kupwara in North Kashmir.

A joint team of Police and Army had cordoned off the Batpora area of after receiving inputs about the presence of militants.

“The hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter,” police officials said.

Intermittent exchange of firing was going on, however SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani denied killing of any militants yet.
