Anantnag: A 25-year-old Kashmiri graduate boy on Saturday made it to the prestigious NSD (National School of Drama).
Hailing from South kashmir’s Anantnag District Junaid Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather has secured 11th place in the prestigious 2018 NSD Examination, the result of which were declared on 12 July 2018.
Junaid Ahmad Rather hails from south Kashmir Anantnag Town Qazibag area has made it to enter first Kashmiri boy and selected for acting programme for three years in NSD (National School of Drama) at Dehli
After completing his Graduation, Junaid got scholarship from CCRT Central for cultural resources and training in Bandipather for ten years under CCST Scheme.
After ten years Junaid had got another scholarship form NSYA (National Scholarship for young Artist) for two years under the same Scheme. Junaid has cracked all professional entrance examinations in June 2018 and became the youngest boy, 25, from valley to qualify the NSD exam.
The National School of Drama is one of the foremost theatre training institutions in the world and the only one of its kind in India. It was set up by the Sanget Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units in 1959.
Talking to the INS Junaid Rather said that at least 40 thousand students applied for this exam in all over India.
Only 26 students were taken up in which I got eleventh position in said exam.
He said that it was in 8th class when I started to work in theater plays. “I have already played in dramas in valley like in Waiter, Chronicles from Kashmir, Pinjery, and Country without post office etc. I am very happy I have cracked this exam and selected for acting programme for three years in NSD institution,” he said.
Some prominent actors are passed out from this institution like Naseer ud din Shah, Nawaz Din Sidiqi, Raj Babar, Neena Gupta, Ifran Khan Ashutosh Rana, Deepa Sahi and more. He added.
