Jammu: Several people were killed and nearly 50 others were injured in a landslide which hit them when they where bathing in a waterfall in Reasi district of Jammu.
The incident occurred around 3.30 pm at Siar Baba waterfall, a major attraction for holiday-makers, a police officer said.
According to the officials, the toll might go up as more people were believed to be trapped under the debris which fell along with the rock from the hillock.
Meanwhile, National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief and shock over the death of several persons in the tragic incident. “My heart goes out to all those who lost their dear ones in the tragic incident”, Omar said and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to bereaved families for bearing their irreparable loss. He wished immediate recovery to the injured.
