Budgam, July 10: Four years have passed and Health Department are yet to make two story building constructed in 2014 for Primary Health Centre (PHC) a functional medical facility.

The facility was constructed at Gurwait area of at central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Abdul Rehman Najar, a local resident alleged that some equipments were also brought to the centre but due to dispute between government and land owner people are suffering.

“It’s callous attitude of authorities towards making this building functional as it is the only source of relief to people,” he added.

Locals allege the land owner was assured by the authorities of an employment and compensation will be provided but ‘since promises proved hoax he did let the health center be made functional’.

“We are compelled to travel to Khansahib, Budgam or Srinagar hospitals even for first aid and during critical situations like maternal cases stated another resident Abdul Gafar.

Locals urged authorities to settle the dispute.

When contacted BMO Khansahib, Dr Masroor Hussain Rizvi said that we have already offered job to the owner but he is demanding for compensation too.

Adding further Dr Rizvi claimed that land owner has been asked to produce revenue papers and hopefully PHC will be made functional soon.

“We have already taken another building on rent in the vicinity to cater the patients of that area,” he added.
