Amid incessant rains third batch of pilgrims for Amarnath yatra leave Jammu

Jammu: The third batch  Amarnath Yatris friday left for Kashmir Valley and would be reaching the base camps of Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district later in the day.

officials said that the third batch consists of 2,876 pilgrims.

Landslides and shooting stones at at Panthal, Nedgard, Digdol and Samroli due to incessant rains that lashed Banihal-Udhampur sector had blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

According to officials only after receiving a green signal did the officials let the pilgrims travel, officials said that they pressed men and machines into service and cleared the blockade that allowed stranded vehicles to move towards their destinations.

The Yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 26.
