Journalist stage protest for ‘independent’ probe into Shujaat’s killing

Srinagar: Journalists on Tuesday took a protest rally here, demanding an independent, fair and credible probe into killing of noted journalist Shujaat Bukahri, who was killed at unknown gunmen earlier this month.

Carrying banners, the journalists also demanded government to probe controversial remarks by BJP MLA and former minister Lal Singh recently.    The journalists assembled at press enclave here and took out a rally before staging a sit-in protest at historic Ghata Ghar here.  a number of senior journalists also addressed the protesters and demanded independent, fair and credible probe into the Shujaat Bukhari’s killing. Bukhari, editor-in-chief of daily Rising Kashmir Newspaper, was killed along with his two personal security guards at press enclave on June 14.
