2 Ananthnag Youth Join Hizb, Pictures Goes Viral

Srinagar: Two more youth, one of them with bachelors in physiotherapy, have joined militant ranks and have announced their joining to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit on Tuesday.

A photograph of Dr Burhan Ganie, a resident of S K Colony Anantnag, holding an AK-47 rifle has gone viral on social media.

Ganie had gone missing a few days ago and has joined the militant group Hizbul Mujahideen on June 24.

He possesses bachelors degree in physiotherapy, according to the depiction on his picture.

Another youth Junaid Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, resident of Hangalgund area of Koekernag, also joined militant ranks. His picture with an AK-47 rifle has gone viral on social media. He too has joined Hizbul Mujahideen.

Sources said Junaid had been missing since the 9 June and his family had already filed a missing report at the nearest police station at Kokernag.

A police officer said police was investigating the veracity of the pictures. “We are investigating and cannot confirm or rebut the reports,” the officer said.
