Art of Living holds Yoga Sessions for jail inmates

JAMMU, JUNE 21 – A Yoga session was organized in District Jail, Jammu to observe International Yoga Day.

The Art of Living teacher Rupali Dutta and other instructors taught Yoga asanas and pranayam to the jail inmates.

In the programme, large number of jail  inmates participated  with  great enthusiasm  and  zeal. Jail Officers Tajinder  Kour, Additional  Superintendent, Feroz  Ahmed  Lone,  Deputy Superintendent Nasir Ahmed  Assistant Superintendent  and  jail staff  also participated.

Senior Superintendent, District  Jail  Jammu  Dinesh Sharma  motivated  the  jail inmates  to  make  yoga  as routine  in  their  daily  life with  a  purpose  to  keep them  physically  as  well  as mentally  fit.

He further said that it has  also  been  observed that  Yoga  and Meditation has  proven  beneficial  to the  inmates and such  type of programme s have become  regular  feature  of the  jail  routine.

A similar Yoga camp was also organized in District Jail, Kathua in collaboration with the Art of Living.

On the occasion, Superintendent Jail Mushtaq Ahmed Malla, Prisons Staff and near about 70 Jail inmates participated in the yoga. The programme was particularly organized for the benefit of prisoners to release their stress and betterment of their health.

The importance of the day and benefits of yoga were also highlighted by trainers for Art of Living and Superintendent Jail and inmates and staff were advised to practice yoga regularly for their  mental, physical  and  spiritual wellbeing.
