Srinagar: National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that the party was not supporting anyone and there was no option but imposition of governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I have just met governor and informed that we are no approaching anyone,” Omar told reporters here. “The governor has no option but to impose the governor’s rule but I have told him that we should not have governor’s rule for long.”
He said while ‘decision of BJP was not surprising, “timing has surprised me and I was not expecting the coalition to break so soon.”
He said that the National Conference offer of support to PDP soon after the election results were announced in 2014 was “one time offer” and it has expired.”
He also claimed that national conference was not “celebrating” the breaking down of the PDP-BJP government but “we mourn the demise of the democracy in the state.”
He said that being a former chief minister, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti should have left gracefully rather than with disgrace.
