Srinagar: The state government on Sunday sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs. 4 lakhs each in favour of the Next of Kins (NoKs) of the three women who died in a landslide at Kishtwar yesterday.
The Bakarwal families from Pathernaki, Kishtwar got trapped after their tents came under a landslide at Shasho Pader, a forest area of Kishtwar District. The injured were shifted to the Primary Health Centre Kerro, where three women were declared brought dead. The injured are under treatment at the District Hospital. The deceased were identified as Zeenam wife of Farooq Ahmed, Maryam wife of Noor Ahmed and Zareena wife of Noorani.
Announcing the ex-gratia relief, Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir gave directions to Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to ensure that ex-gratia relief is disbursed to the NoKs immediately and ensure proper medical care to the injured. He asked the District Administration to assess the loss of their livestock and provide relief, in accordance with the NDRF/SDRF norms, without any delay.
