Locals said that some shepherd spotted the charred body at Khazan Mati, top side of Kralpora forests and informed the concerned police station.

A police officer while confirming the incident said that a team was rushed immediately to the spot and recovered the body at 6:30am.

“The charred body is of a young man but is beyond the recognition and authorities are conducting all legal medico formalities including the postmortem and DNA tests to ascertain his identity,” Sp Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar said.

A case under relevant sections of law has also been registered and further investigations is taken up, the officer added.
