Srinagar: Authorities barred Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani from offering Friday prayers in Hazratbal, a spokesman said.
According to the statement issued to media, the spokesman said that Geelani was stopped after he defied house arrest restrictions. “The police forces outside his residence did not allow him to venture out to march towards Hazratbal,” he said.
Hurriyat Conference said soon as Geelani moved towards Hazratbal Srinagar, he was prevented by a heavy contingent of police from doing so.
Lashing at authorities, Geelani said: “Delhi groomed authorities have unleashed a reign of terror against innocent civilians in state.”
Lashing at state authorities, Geelani in his address said by placing curbs, denying religious obligations and detaining resistance leaders, the government was denying them to stage peaceful protests.
Geelani in his address to people said that the month of Ramazan is one of the most beloved and blessed months in the Islamic calendar. “Ramazan is all about asking for forgiveness and peace from the Almighty Allah. Apologize to Him for the past mistakes.” He said Ramazan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment. “We should seek forgiveness from Allah SWT and read and recite the Holy Quran along with its meanings.”
Geelani said Kashmiris will continue with their struggle till freedom is achieved and that instead of facing resistance leaders on political turf, they are being caged against frivolous charges. He said the sacrifices of youth won’t go waste and nobody will be allowed to play with their sacrifices, saying “we will never surrender or succumb to pressure but will pursue our cherished mission till it is taken to its logical conclusion.”
Geelani expressed his satisfaction over the overwhelming response from people for Youm-e-Kashmir and Youm-e-Alqudus, saying since past 70 years the Palestine and Kashmir issues were neglected. The response of people for endorsing resolutions is a welcome step and encouraging, Geelani said and asked people to remain cautious about the nefarious designs planned by local stooges. Reiterating appeal for upcoming elections, Geelani urged people to stay away from all government sponsored functions, saying “we will pursue pious mission despite all odds.”
Geelani demanded peaceful resolution of Kashmir and Palestine issues according to the wishes and aspirations of the people and expressed his deep concern over opening of foreign affairs office by American authorities. “America and its brainchild Israel with their military might and political influence are depriving Palestinian people from their birth right.”
Strongly condemned the Israel and American aggression over Palestinian people, Syed Ali Geelani said Unproportionate and brute force against innocent and unarmed people is unacceptable and unethical.
Syed Ali Geelani, while expressing grave concern over the “genocide” of innocent people of Palestine at the hands of Israel’s “fascist” forces, rejected what he termed as the US hegemony to accept Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“It is against the sovereignty of a nation like Palestine, and to intervene in the internal matters of sovereign state is against the set principles of UNO,” Geelani said in a statement.
