Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Thursday strongly condemned the re-arrest of two sisters, one of them being a P.G. (economic) student who had to appear in the ongoing examination ending June 21.
In a statement issued here the Bar Association said termed lodging of the girls in Police Station Sadder Anantnag in a “beastly manner” and also summoning many other girls, who wear veils, to the police station, serious invasion of their privacy and violation of their basic human rights.
“In case of their failure to report in the police stations, their houses are raided, their parents arrested, humiliated, harassed and abused,” it said.
Due to re-arrest of the P G student, the lawyers body said that she has been unable to appear in the examination on 6th of June onwards.
The lawyers’ body appealed the International Community to come to their rescue immediately before it would be too late to safeguard their honour, prestige and dignity.
In an Executive Committee meeting held here today, the members also stressed on the need of unity and cohesion among all ranks of the people to fight against the “tyranny, oppression and reign of terror let loose in the State of J&K by the ruthless forces, who are killing, maiming and blinding innocent civilians and are denying fair trail to those, who are languishing in jails for their political beliefs, by lodging them in far off places so as to make their presence in courts improbable and impossible and also in arresting young girls on false and concocted charges and putting them behind the bars to terrorize and humiliate them.”
The Bar members while supporting the call of JRL to observe last Friday of Ramazan as “Palestine and Kashmir Day”, to impress upon the world community to rise to the occasion to solve the Palestine and Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people, who are both suffering the onslaught of ruthless forces for the last 70 years with the people of the civilized world watching their plight as mute spectators.
The Bar members however appreciated the stand taken by the Argentinian Football team, in refusing to play a football match with an Israeli Football team in a sports stadium constructed by the Zionist forces on the Palestinian land, even though the Israeli Prime Minister had personally intervened in the matter and had talked to Argentinian Prime Minister to persuade its team to play the football match, but the team refused to do so, on the ground that the land on which the stadium has been constructed forcibly belongs to Palestinian people and that they do not want to hurt their sentiments and feelings.
