Srinagar: Day after several girls were injured of a gunfire during a face off between government forces and civilians at an iftar in South kashmir’s Shopian district Jammu and Kashmir police chief Shesh Paul Vaid on Tuesday claimed recent Ramadhan ceasefire announced by Union government has been “successful and situation in south Kashmir has also eased”.

Taking to micro blogging website Twitter, Director General of Police Vaid said: “The Ramzan ceasefire has been successful thus far. The initiative of Hon’ble PM has helped in general improvement in law & order. The situation especially in south Kashmir has eased & is serving as confidence Building Measure for families who want their boys to return back home (sic)”.
