Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Thursday described the government of India’s announcement of asking its forces not to launch anti-militancy operation in the State during the holy month of Ramazan, with a condition to retaliate if attacked, as “farcical”.
“There is nothing in the decision regarding the taking of concrete steps to settle the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of people, who want the implementation of Security Council Resolutions, guaranteeing them the right of self-determination, but have been brutalized by the Indian forces during the past 70 years and have not only been killed in thousands and thousands but have also been blinded and maimed only because they want that Indian leaders should fulfill their promises and pledges made by them to the people of Kashmir before the world forums and also both inside and outside the Indian Parliament.
“The decision is as an attempt to mislead the world community in believing that India respects the religious sentiments of the people of Kashmir, ignoring the fact that only in the recent past it has not allowed offering of Friday prayers in the Grand Mosque of Srinagar for weeks together and its troops cordoned off the area around the mosque, umpteen times, to see that no one enters the mosque for offering his prayers,” the lawyers body said.
The lawyers body’ maintains that if India was sincere and honest in settling the Kashmir issue and establish peace and tranquility in the subcontinent, then it should take formidable steps to implement the Security Council Resolutions in their letter and spirit and hold plebiscite in J&K and in this regard also talk to the genuine pro-freedom leadership of the people of Kashmir and also with Pakistan and in the meanwhile withdraw all the draconian laws and remove the cover of impunity given by it to its forces under the J&K Armed Forces Special Powers Act and release all the Kashmiri prisoners of conscience, who have been lodged in jails both inside and outside the State, only because they want a permanent settlement of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people.
The Bar also strongly condemns the killing of 62 innocent Palestinians and wounding of more than 2500 others, especially children and women, by the ruthless forces, who were protesting against the opening of United State of America’s Embassy in Jerusalem and the criminal silence maintained by the powerful countries of the world on their massacre and terms the same inhuman and barbaric.
It also described the controversial move of USA to shift its Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which houses Holy Al-Qudus mosque and was considered as capital of future state of Palestine, as provocative as well as violative of UNO resolutions. The lawyers’ body called upon the world body including Organization of Islamic Countries and other Human Rights Organizations of the World to take concrete and effective steps to stop the genocide of Palestinian people who are being butchered by Israeli barbaric forces every day for raising their voice against the occupation of their territory by Zionist Israeli regime.
