Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Khanyar on their 27th martyrdom anniversary. Exactly 27 years ago, 25 unarmed innocent people were massacred by the government forces by resorting to indiscriminate firing and leaving dozens of others seriously wounded, the amalgam said.

While Mirwaiz Umar Farooq remained under house arrest, a delegation of amalgam offered Fateh khawani for the slain martyrs of Khanyar. The delegation said that the mission of martyrs would be taken to its logical conclusion and asked people to remain steadfast till the ongoing movement reaches its goal, the statement said.

The delegation strongly condemned the forces highhandedness in Shopian and other south Kashmir districts and imposition of strict curfew in majority of downtown areas. The delegation expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
