Ganderbal: Srinagar-Leh highway was closed on Friday for vehicular traffic following fresh snowfall over Sonamarg-Zojila stretch .

Traffic officer Sonmarg, Mohammad Ibrahim told INS that snowfall began last night and still continues to fall over the stretch.

“The road was closed and traffic suspended due to snow fall,” Ibrahim said.

Almost 5 inches snow accumulated in Sonmarg and 10-11 inches snow has accumulated at Zojila pass, locals said.

Officials said that the decision to suspend vehicular movement was taken after snow fall lead to  slippery condition of road makin git unmotorable.
