Lolab: Youth hospitalised after Army thrash protesters demanding transport facility

Kupwara:  A protesting youth against non-availability of transport in Badibera Lolab here was severely thrashed by Army after they charged on the protesters on Monday afternoon.

Protesters had assembled demanding transport facilities through Lalpora To Kupwara and Sogam  to kupwara.

Vehicular movement on the road came to halt as protesters were relentless, and according to police officials, an Army ambulance stuck in the traffic jam was stone pelted.

According to local sources Army cane charged protesters injuring one boy severely who had to be admitted to hospital.

“Angry protesters pelted stones on Army ambulance and damaged window panes,” Police officals, wishing anonymity, told INS.

The injured has been identified as Nasir Ahmad of Wavoora, and was rushed to nearby hospital, who referred him to Handwara for advanced treatment.

“CT Scan and other tests have been done and he is being monitored. If he vomits we will have to rush him to Srinagar,” hospital authorities said, asking not to be named.

Protests erupted in the Degree college Sogam on Army thrashing a protester for demanding better transport facility.

An army officer belonging to Kilo force visited college amid protests and assured students that there will be action against the official found involved in thrashing the protester.

The official also assured the students no such incidents will happen in future.
