Srinagar: Massive fire tore apart at least eight houses in Ali kadal area of Shehr e Khas on Friday.

According to reprots the fire broke out in the congested Aali Kadal  locality at around 11:35 AM and spread quickly to neighboring houses.

According to officials 20 fire tenders and six pumps were put into action to control the blazing flames.

“While damage was caused to many houses but we also managed to control the fire from spreading further and averted a major tragedy as the area is thickly populated, lanes and by-lanes are narrow, and old wooden structures are rampant,” official claimed.

The cause of fire is still unknown and the damage caused is being assessed.

officials said that in the fire fight four firemen and civilian sustain injuries who were shifted to hospital for treatment.
