Sopore: People of Sopore said they are facing problems as office of Additional Deputy Commissioner remains vacant.
On March 7, the Jammu and Kashmir Government transferred Khurshid Ahmad Shah (KAS), additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, as Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir.
While Shah was ordered to move immediately, the ADC’s post lays vacant since then even as government had posted new incumbent in Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Programme Officer, ICDS Project, Anantnag, to the post. However, for nearly fortnight, the new incumbent has not taken the charge.
Ghulam Mohammad, who hails from Rampur area of Rajpur, says that he covered 20 kilometres by foot for signature last week. “I was told that ADC sahib has been transferred and there is none at present to man the office,” Ghulam Mohammad said. “I had to return disappointed,” he says.
People of Zaingeer belt including Seer Jagir, Dangerpora,Watlab,Sagipora, Brath,Janwara Warpora and other areas that fall under the jurisdiction of ADC Sopore are facing problems in absence of ADC.
“Even our simple application are not processed. We have to travel from far of areas to ADC office everyday and in absence of officer, we return disappointed,” says Gulzar Ahmad, a Dagerpora.
Sopore Trade body, Bar Association, Teachers Forum, Civil Society and other senior citizens have also appealed the government to look into the matter and redress the grievance without any delay. They said that government knows well the value of an officer and should take necessary action so that post ADC Sopore functions properly. The reasons for new incumbent in not taking the charge o ADC Sopore could not be known as repeated attempts to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla failed to fructify.
