ITI Tral without superintendent; students, staff suffer

TRAL: Industrial Training Institute of Tral in Pulwama district is without the superintendent for the past 8 months, adversely affecting the academics and hampering the functioning of the institute.
Around 350 students are enrolled in the institute under 12 trades.
Officials said that all the routine administrative work in the institute has come to a standstill.
“We are facing a lot of problems in absence of the superintendent in our institute as additional charge has been given to the principal of Anantnag ITI who is not able to come daily,” Tanveer Ahmad, Instructor, MMV told INS, adding, “Unfortunately nobody is paying heed to the problem which has affected the functioning of our institute.”
Bilal Ahmad, working as an accountant in the institute, said due to non-availability of superintendent, the institute is unable to make any proper decisions regarding the routine work and other programs. “The construction work is going on in the campus and we are not even able to interact with the labourers and other workers as only the superintendent is considered fit for the job,” he said.
Students also expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to appoint a full-time superintendent in the institute. “We continue to suffer as nobody is there to listen to our grievances,” they said.
They said that additional superintendent hardly visits the institute as he already heads the Anantnag ITI.
Despite repeated attempts, the higher authorities of technical education could not be contacted.
Meanwhile, ITI Tral staff and students have urged the authorities to look into the matter.
