Srinagar: Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in downtown areas of Srinagar on Tuesday as a precautionary measure in view of an ongoing encounter in Karan Nagar area here.
The militants have been holed up in a building near battalion headquarters of CRPF in Karan Nagar. One militant has been killed, police said on Tuesday.
The encounter started in the wee hours of Monday morning.
All roads leading to Karan Nagar in civil lines have also been sealed with barbed wires to prevent people from going towards the encounter site.
