Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed due to heavy snowfall at several places along the 300KM stretch.
A traffic official here said that the thoroughfare, the only surface link, connecting Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, was closed on Monday morning. He said that no vehicle will be allowed on either side of the highway.
“The traffic has been due to snowfall at Qazigund and Jawahar tunnel,” the traffic department official said. He said it was still snowing at Jawhar tunnel, Shaitan Nallah and Qazigund and road has turned slippery.
When this report was filed, it was still snowing and the entire Kashmir Valley including this summer capital of the state wrapped in white blanket.
