Jammu: Opposition National Conference on Thursday expressed deep “shock and anguish over unfair means allowed to specific non-state subject candidates for recruitment” in various categories of lower rung posts in 15 Field Ammunition Depot, Kanyala in Nagrota Assembly Constituency and demanded absorption of locals, who were the actual stakeholders.
“If reports are to be believed, the out state candidates have vehemently used unfair means including Bluetooth ear phones, which has potential of marring the chances of locals,” NC Provincial President and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana Rana said. “This is being done in a systematic and calculated manner to have favoured candidates selected.”
The MLA expressed complete solidarity with the agitated youth, who joined the protest dharna organized by National Conference in support of CBI probe into the malpractices to favour outside state candidates and priority to locals in recruitment to lower category of posts in the Ammunition Depot.
Rana said the manipulation in recruitment is no secret as the police had taken cognizance to this sinister nexus by registering FIR over malpractices being committed during the unscrupulous insiders course of recruitment process two years ago. “The nexus between some insiders with aspirants has taken serious proportions”, he said and called for the CBI probe to dig out the truth and reach out to actual perpetrators.
The MLA Nagrota slammed the senior BJP leaders, holding important positions for hoodwinking public opinion by misleading them about this issue having been raised at the level of Home Minister for dispensing justice to the locals but actually nothing has been percolated down on the ground. He, however, said that National Conference will not lie down over the issue, as it concerns the youth of the area, who are enormously dejected.
In this context, he referred to frequent assurances being held out to the local by the local Member Parliament and Deputy Chief Minister, asking why they have failed in reining in and exposing the unscrupulous elements, who were selling out jobs thus depriving locals of their rights.
Rana said that he had taken up this issue with the former Defence Minister Manohar Parikar and brought to his notice unabated malpractices in the recruitment process. He said on 29th September 2016, 28 persons were found impersonating during screening test for the post of Labour Clerks and Firemen in this Depot. Accordingly Police had registered FIR as well. He said Mr Parikar had favourably responded but it seems the perpetrators continue to remain unmoved, which is evident from the unfair means allowed today also during the screening test.
The MLA Nagrota reiterated his demand for local youth being given preference in the junior category of posts in the Ammunition Depot. He also sought CBI probe into the chronic nexus going on in the depot for years. “There has to be end to all this in order to generate confidence among local youth about fairness of the process and priority to them, being the main stakeholders”, he added.
