Shopian strike continues on 6th day: Recording of statements begins today

Shopian: The recording of statements of the witnesses in the killing of two youth in army firing in Ganowpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district will begin today.
The government had ordered magisterial enquiry into the killings and an FIR has been registered in this regard.
“According to the District Magistrate Shopian, in order to ascertain the facts of January 27 firing incident at Ganowpora, all interested persons can record their statements within a week’s time from January 30, 2018,” an official said. “The statements can be recorded in the office of District Magistrate Shopian,” he added.
Two youth were killed and nine others injured after army opened fire in the incident.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed on the sixth consecutive day in Shopian against the civilian killings. The internet is also suspended for the last seven days.
