Clashes in Pulwama amid strike, Shopian too shuts against civilian killings

Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces have erupted on Monday at Murran Chowk in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district amid a complete shutdown against the civilian killings by army in Shopian district .
Reports said that scores of youth took to streets early Monday morning in Murran Chowk and clashed with police and paramilitary CRPF deployed in strength already. The government forces resorted to heavy teargas shelling and when this report was filed, the clashes were going on in the area. There were no immediate reports about injury to any person so far.
A complete strike is being observed in Pulwama as well Shopian districts against civilian killings in Ganowpora village of the Shopian by army on Saturday. Internet services are still suspended in the twin districts. Two civilians were killed and several others injured in army firing on Saturday.
