Jammu: The toll in cross-border and LoC shelling in Jammu and Kashmir mounted to 12 as one more civilian was killed in Akhnoor sector’s Kanachak area on Sunday.
Sources said that Gopal Bawa (45) son of Bansi Lal was killed due to cross border firing and his body has been shifted for post-mortem. In the same incident, his brother Ram Bawa was injured and has been admitted in GMC, they said.
Earlier, an army soldier who was injured succumbed to injuries. Sepoy C K Roy, posted in a forward post in Mankote sector of Poonch district, was injured in Pakistani firing yesterday and succumbed to injuries at the military hospital.
One woman Kanta Devi (50) wife of Rattan Dass Bawa of Kana Chak also received splinter injury and has been shifted to GMC Jammu, they said.
Also Jeet Raj son of Gopal Dass of kanachak sector received splinter injuries and was also shifted to GMC Jammu, they said.
The dead included seven civilians, three army soldiers and two BSF personnel.
While a BSF soldier and a teenage girl were killed on Thursday, four persons— two civilians and one each BSF soldier and Army soldier were killed and over 40 others, including two BSF personnel, injured in the Pakistani firing on Friday.
Three civilians and an Army soldier were killed and 16 others injured yesterday.
