Srinagar: The state government on Monday said that the 73rd amendment Act was not applicable to the State of Jammu and Kashmir in view of the special constitutional position under Constitution of India.
Replying to a question by BJP MLA Rajesh Gupta, Deputy Chief Minister and minister Housing and Urban Development Department however said that J&K Panchayati Raj Act, 1989 (Amended upto March, 2016) has been enacted to bring in the broader features of the 73rd Amendment of the Constitution of India.
