Governor asks CS to order immediate fire safety audit of hospitals, malls

Jammu: Governor N.N. Vohra on Saturday asked Chief Secretary to issue immediate instructions to all Deputy Commissioners in the State to have an immediate Fire Safety Audit conducted, particularly in regard to hospitals, shopping centres, malls etc.
“Consequent to yesterday’s fire incident in Bombay which resulted in the loss of property and death of fourteen previous lives, Governor N.N. Vohra has asked Shri B.B. Vyas, Chief Secretary, to issue immediate instructions to all Deputy Commissioners in the State to have an immediate Fire Safety Audit conducted, particularly in regard to hospitals, shopping centres, malls etc. and send all premises which have the risk of catching fire, falling down etc.” At least 14 people were killed and 19 injured when a fire broke out at a rooftop pub hosting a birthday party and spread rapidly through the building inside the Kamala Mill compound in Lower Parel in the early hours of Friday.
