Ganderbal: A hotel owner taking benefit of snowfall and bad road conditions tried to begin construction works however Sonmarg Development authority conducted a demolition drive on friday and removed illegal hotel works/rooftop from the tourist resort.

“A demolition team of SDA officials led by its field squad on the directions of Chief Executive Officer Shabir Ahmad Raina (KAS) appeared in Sonamarg area and in pursuance of  high Court orders, SDA department raised the unauthorized Hotel work/rooftop to ground in about 3 feets of Snow in the area,” official said
The team was led by SDA field squad along with Sonamarg police personnel who were supervised the entire operation and lodged FIR against owner.” he said.
Chief executive officer sonamarg Development Authority Shabir Ahmad Raina told INS that the authority won’t tolerate any violation of the area and stern action against the violators who are constructing their structures illegally in Sonamarg.
“We have issued notices to many such violators and action would be taken,” he added.
