Shopian: A woman was killed on Tuesday after being hit by the bullet during the intense clashes between protesters and government forces.

The protesters were trying to break the cordon around encounter site in Batamuran Shopian.

The deceased has been identified as Beauty Jan daughter of Abdul Rashid of Batamarun,and she had received bullet injury  on abdomen, reports quoting Medical superintendent of Shopian hospital said.

The gunfight between militants and forces was going on since Monday evening and in the ensuing clashes at least a dozen people have recieved injuries.

Two militants have been killed in the gunfight so far, police said.
