Srinagar: At least thirteen shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at Gojwara Chowk in Srinagar on intervening night on Friday.

The cause of fire was not yet known but eyewitnesses said the blaze erupted at 2.10 am in a shop and quickly spread to adjacent shops and property worth crores of rupees was destroyed.

Locals came out of their houses and made a valiant attempt to douse the fire as fire tenders reached the site late.

“We have suffered huge losses around 10 crore,” a victim told INS.
