Altaf Husain, a resident of Mendhar  accused politicians  of making tall claims to get the status however, ‘its all done to lure more votes’.

“Once the elections are over they all vanish in thin air,” Hussain said.

Seconding Hussain, Pushkar Nath another resident of the area criticised the government for deliberately ignoring the locality and forcing people to live in unhygienic conditions.

“The government should immediately start a cleanliness drive to clean the locality  before an epidemic breaks out,” Nath complained.

According to a delegation of residents who talked to INS also claimed that ‘the lackadaisical approach of government can be gauged from the fact that the street lights are defunct from past 4 years’.
