District Hospital Kupwara: Patients suffer after five doctors transferred in two weeks without replacement

Kupwara: In two weeks five doctor’s have been transferred From Distirct Hospital Kupwara however no replacement for the same has been provided adding trauma to patients while leading to increased referrals.

DH kupwara in the main town Kupwara and is the 2nd  District Hospital Across India in single district, other district hospital functions from Handwara.

Patients from far flung areas rely on the two district hospital in the district however the recent transfers have hit the working badly.

Hospital insiders told INS the ‘no new placement on the vacant places by the recent transferred doctors have hit them badly.’

“We have to refer patients to other hospitals after five doctors were transferred with no replacement in place,” a doctor wishing not to be named said.

Doctors in the hospital also confided that due to no replacement of doctors they have referred several patients ‘on daily bases From DH kupwara to Srinagar  for  better treatment’.

Chief Medical Officer Kupwara Dr Parlard Singh when asked as to why no replacement of doctor was done after five doctors were transferred in 16 days hanged the line.

Despite repeated attempts he did not respond to INS.

In the mean time ex MLA Mir Saifullah told reporters that  DH  Kupwara had been sanctioned 56 Senior(Special) Doctors, however doctors are avoiding duties in ‘rural areas and are enjoying their duties some where else’.

“Their salary is released from District Hospital Kupwara,” Mir claimed.
