Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani hailed Pakistan for a resolution in UN General Assembly on right to self determination, saying it will send a good message to all subjugated nations.
“It is encouraging and we feel delighted that world body has acknowledged and accepted the Pakistan sponsored resolution,” Geelani said in a statement issued here.
“We are facing extreme situation since past 71 years and it is the sincere efforts that after 39 years of strenuous efforts Pakistan succeeded to introduce resolution in UNGA,” he said, adding that world community has turned blind eyes to “our agonies and miseries.” “Our screams and wailing go un noticed,” he said.
Geelani said all member countries including India was aware about the historical evidences and aspects of Kashmir issue as it was New Delhi that took the case to the UNO. “Eighteen resolutions were passed that People of Jammu Kashmir will be given the opportunity to  exercise their right to self-determination and the United Nations Security Council stands guarantees for the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people, however miserably failed to implement its resolutions,” he said.
While pursuing their right to self-determination and for their genuine rights the people of state presented six lakh precious souls to achieve their democratic right, he said. “Until this institution performs its duties as expected, Kashmiris will continue to suffer due to this forced occupation.”
Geelani said Indian authorities are employing military might to suppress genuine aspirations of the people.
Haling Pakistan authorities for their sincere and justified approach and steps, Geelani said the country continues to support people of Kashmir despite facing multiple challenges and issues.
“It is encouraging and we feel delighted that world body has acknowledged and accepted the Pakistan sponsored resolution. It will send a good message and feeling to all subjugated nations.”
