Kashmiris suffering due to Delhi’s stubbornness: Hurriyat (M)

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that people of Kashmir were suffering due New Delhi’s “stubbornness” while as it paid tributes to Mugees Ahmed Mir, a youth from Parimpora, who was killed in Zakura here.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman of the amalgam also condemned the restrictions imposed in Old City, closing of schools as also placing of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and arrest of JKLF chief Yasin Malik.
The spokesman said these tactics based on mere political vendetta can’t muzzle or break the resolve of pro freedom leadership.
He also expressed grief over the killing of the “armed” youth Mugees Ahmed Mir of Parimpora and paid rich tributes to him. The spokesman expressed solidarity with the family of the slain youth.
“It was because of the lingering Kashmir issue and due to the stubborn and intransigent approach of New Delhi that people of this region continue to suffer.”
He said that it was because of Kashmir issue that that the two nuclear powers are in the confrontational mode.
“Because of repressive measures, youth are being pushed to the wall and many of them are taking to militancy.”
The spokesman said Delhi must understand the ground realities and take concrete steps to resolve the 70-year-old “dispute” as per the wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
