Srinagar: Residents of Khayam and Munawarabad localities area of old city Srinagar are without potable water supply from last 4 days.

The locals told INS that, if the problem of water supply is not resolved within 24hrs we have decided to lock down the PHE office and we are thinking to protest, \

“We are giving  last warning to the officials of PHE to resolve the issue or face public anger,” residents said.

 

“We are buying water from shops, the problem is such that i am not able to sterilize the milk bottle of my child. The department doesn’t know anything about the problems which we are facing.” Said Safeena a local resident.

The government, according to locals, is forcing them to come on roads to protests and raise voice agains non availability of ‘basic need’.

“I am not able to go for work because we don’t have water at home and every day we have to go out and manage water so that the daily chores is not effected,” locals of Khayyam said.

“I have not attended my office from last 3 days because of unavailability of water. I have bought water from shops which costed nearly2 thousand.” Tariq Ahmad said.

 

He added: “The present government has given us just problems and nothing else.”

Despite many attempts the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer  PHE  did not pick call and later put his mobile in a ‘switched off’ mode.
