Srinagar: Government has constituted Special Task Force (STF) under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to combat Dengue and Swine Flu disease in the Kashmir Valley.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, convened a meeting to review the preparedness and measures to curb Dengue and H1N1 (Swine Flu) Influenza virus in Kashmir Division.
Director Health Services Kashmir is the member secretary whereas Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Commissioner SMC, Mission Director National Health Mission, Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, HOD Paediatrics Department GMC Srinagar, Director Estates Kashmir, State Epidemiologist & State Malariologist, Joint Director Information, Director Doordarshan Kashmir, Director Radio Kashmir and all Deputy Commissioners are the members of the Special Task Force.
It was further informed, there is no need to panic and Government had already issued health advisory in all leading newspapers. People are advised to follow the advisory in letter & spirit. Health institutions are already prepared to meet any eventuality.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir directed all Deputy Commissioners to hold meeting in their respective districts to address this problem. He stressed for involving CMO, District Health Officer and all BMOs to constitute district level teams to provide awareness camps in all schools, colleges, Government offices especially SMC and District Police lines in a phase wise manner. Div Com also sought involvement of teachers and Local NGOs for awareness drive to curb Dengue and H1N1 (Swine Flu) Influenza virus.
 He also directed health department to organize talk shows on Doordarshan, Radio, FM channels and local Cables to provide complete awareness about Dengue and H1N1 (Swine Flu) Influenza virus to the People.
Divisional Commissioner asked all concerned departments to work with close coordination so that Dengue and H1N1 (Swine Flu) Influenza virus is controlled in the valley before the onset of winters.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Director Health Services Kashmir, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Commissioner SMC, Mission Director National Health Mission, Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, HOD Paediatrics Department GMC Srinagar, Director Estates Kashmir, State Epidemiologist & State Malariologist, Joint Director Information, Officers from Doordarshan & Radio Kashmir, Deputy Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner and other concerned officers were present in this meeting
