Civilian killed in pulwama amid protests over militant killing

A civilian has been killed and more than twenty  people are injured forces opened fire during clashes in Litter and adjacent villages of Pulwama district where a gunfight erupted early today.

Local sources identified the deceased as  Gulzar Ahmad Mir, son-in-law of Sanaullah Mir, a resident of Allaypora, he was injured during the clashes. Gulzar was rushed to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar but he succumbed.

Another civilian, identified as Muhammad Ashraf Mir with firearm injury has been referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Four civilians have received pellet injuries  and have been shifted to District Hospital Pulwama.

Announcements were made over the public address system of the mosques asking asking people to hit streets who clashed with forces, pelting stones, in Litter area, where an encounter is going on.

“Adjacent villages moved towared encounter site to help the militants escape,” locals sources said.

The forces responded by firing tear gas shells and resorted to firing.

Shopian district commander of LeT Wasim Shah was killed along with his associate Nasir Mir in the gunfight that raged in Litter village.
