The FIR was lodged against revenue officials including the then Patwari Halqa Kareewa Damodar Budgam and the then Additional Patwari Halqa Kareewa Damodar, Budgam under Jammu & Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006 & Section 4-A & 4-F P.C (Amendment) Act, 2014 of P/S VOK.

The case was registered after a written complaint alleging therein that a resident of Handalbugh Kralpora Tehsil Chadoora sought copy of mutation seeking rectification of records from the concerned official.

The complainant approached the concerned Patwari several times for obtaining the requisite copy of mutation who in turn demanded Rs. 2500 as gratification.

It is pertinent to mention here that offences punishable under section 4-F of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2014 had also been established against the then additional Patwari Halqa Kareewa Damodar for facilitating the accused to accept the bribe money.

After registering the case a successful trap was laid and the accused public servant was caught red handed while accepting the bribe along with the other accused.
