Braid chopping: Police registers case against six persons for rumor mongering in Kangan

Ganderbal: Protests erupted in Kangan area of Ganderbal district of central Kashmir on Saturday after people caught hold of a person accusing him of being ‘Braid chopper’ however police said ‘he is mentally retarded’.

Police had to use tear gas to take the accused in custody, after ‘people refused to hand him over to authorities for investigation’.

According to SDPO Kangan Muhammd Umer Shah, the accused has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Raina S/O Samiullah Raina R/O Hariganwan Kangan Ganderbal who is ‘mentally retarded’.

“We have registered case against six persons for rumor mongering,” Umer told INS.

A case has been registered FIR no. 92/2017 at police station kangan in this regard.
