Section 144 imposed in many city parts

Srinagar: Restrictions continue to remain in place in many areas of Srinagar to prevent a Muharram procession, police said.

According to reports police has received “intelligence inputs about miscreants trying to incite trouble during the procession” which are to be taken out later in the day.

‘The District Magistrate Srinagar has ordered restrictions under section 144 CrPc to remain in force,” reports quoting  police officials said.

Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed in the city.

The restrictions will remain in force until Sunday, the officials added.

On Friday muharram procession tried to take out marches in civil lines but were chased and detained by police.

“Nowhatta, Maisuma, Rainawara, Khanyar, Maharaj Gunj, Safa Kadal, Shaheed Gunn, Shergari, Batamaloo, Kara Nagar, Kothi Bagh, Kral Khud and Ram Munshi Bagh (Dalgate Area Only) will be under section 144.
