The move is aimed at sparing the teachers from additional burden and enabling them to concentrate on improving education system in the schools.

The process has been started for replacement of 100 more BLOs.

Deputy District Election Officer, Shrikant Susé issued the order relieving 86 teachers from BLO duty assigned in assembly constituencies Darhal, Rajouri, Nowshera and Kalakote.

Earlier this month, 163 teachers were removed from BLO duty. Officials from various other departments have been appointed as BLOs as per the provisions laid down by the Election Commission of India.

District Election Officer, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while chairing a meeting of BLOs informed that 48 new polling stations have been created in addition to 517 existing polling stations. He also informed that the district administration has initiated a process to remove around 60-70% teachers from BLO duty and assignment to spare their services only for education. He also warned against canvassing for retaining BLO assignment for teachers.

The newly appointed BLOs are being trained by Dy DEO, DIO- NIC and Electoral Registration Officers.
