ADGP Armed promotes 2300 constables as SGCTs

SRINAGAR:  Additional DGP Armed J&K L Mohanti, today promoted 2300 Constables of JKAP to the rank of Selection Grade Constables. The promotees include the eligible Constables appointed in J&K Armed Police upto mid 2003.

In this context, formal order No. 740 of 2017 dated 22.09.2017 was issued by Armed Police Headquarters J&K Srinagar after the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) headed by Shri L Mohanti-IPS, Additional DGP Armed J&K found the individuals eligible for their promotions to the rank of Selection Grade Constables in light of the departmental criteria laid down for such promotions.

These promotions have been made in pursuance to Government’s decision for increase in the strength of Selection Grade Constables to 50% of the total number of Constables in Police department vide J&K Government’s orders No.183-F of 2017 dated 12.06.2017.

In pursuance of the afore mentioned Government order, promotion cases of 2300 more eligible Constables appointed in J&K Armed Police upto mid-2007 are also under process and their promotion orders are likely to be issued within the next week.

The ADGP Armed highly appreciated the hard work and efforts put in place by his Staff Officer M Y Kichloo SSP for his vigorous role in mobilizing and supervising the concerned staff for collection of service records of more than five thousand Constables and scrutiny/compilation of data of each individual in a record time enabling the designated DPC to finalize the promotion process of such a huge number of officials in a smooth manner.

During the first five months of the current year Armed Police Headquarter has issued the promotion orders of 2640 police personnel of different ranks. With the release of this promotion list, APHQ J&K has the credit of completing the promotion process of 4940 (Four thousand nine hundred and forty) police personnel of different ranks in addition to under process promotion of 2300 more Constables to the rank of Selection Grade Constables.
