Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that no pellets were used amid a grenade blast in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“No pellet was fired. However some (gun) shots were fired in air to prevent any further attack. The reports about of use of pellets as reported in by some social media, are totally baseless,” a police spokesman quoting SP Awantipora Zahid Malik said in a statement here. He said that the forces showed “maximum restraint” during the incident.
Regarding the attack, the police said that militants hurdled the grenade at Bus Stand Tral, resulting in on the spot death of two innocent civilians who were identified as Pinky Kour daughter of Ichpal Singh of Chattrogam and Ghulam Nabi Trag son of Ghulam Ahmad Trag of Tral-e-Payeen. 30 persons included seven CRPF and two policemen were injured, he said, adding rest of 21 were civilians.
“All the civilians were shifted to SDH Tral where from 16 civilians and two CRPF men were discharged while rest of the injured were shifted to Srinagar hospital.”
