SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 20:  Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today chaired a high level meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for observance of Muharram days in Budgam district.

On the occasion, the Minister directed the officials to establish Muharram Control Rooms at district headquarters for the redressal of public grievances at the earliest.

The PDD authorities were directed to ensure High Mast lights/ Halogen Bulbs and LEDs at all the important places and ensuring generator sets are installed at identified locations.

The PHE authorities were directed to ensure that water tanks are provided at identified locations. The R&B authorities were directed to ensure that the roads where the Muharram procession would be taken are repaired at the earliest.

The CAPD  Department was directed to ensure adequate supply and prompt distribution of ration, sugar, k-oil and LPG.

Regarding firewood, the SFC officials were directed to dump the required quantity of firewood at already identified locations as per past practice in the district.

Similarly, the Municipal authorities were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness measures at all the religious places.

Fire and Emergency Authorities were directed to remain prepared to deal with any eventuality.

The ARTO was directed to ensure special transport facilities till the conclusion of the procession on the day of Aashura.

The representatives of Shia community from different parts of the district also participated in the meeting. The minister assured them that their genuine demands and grievances would be addressed on priority.

MLC Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy commissioner Budgam and other senior officers of the district attended the meeting.
